How to deal with Procrastination

Have you ever planned to complete important task/assignment/revise for exam — and then end up lying in bed contemplating or surfing the internet for more than 5 hours? Or perhaps you suddenly realize that the dog needs to be fed, emails need to be answered, your ceiling fan needs dusting — or maybe you should go ahead and have lunch, even though it’s only 11 a.m.? Our mental health counsellor from Skills for Change will facilitate this workshop to understand more about the procrastination cycle and see how to step-by-step create a healthier lifestyle.

Coping with anxiety thoughts and rumination

Do you find yourself thinking repeatedly about unpleasant experiences? If so, you are ruminating. With the COVID-19 pandemic, we experience increased amounts of rumination and anxiety. We will explore the rumination cycle to see how we can break through the impossible by recognizing the process, identify your thought patterns and challenge your automatic thoughts. Our mental health counsellor from Skills for Change will facilitate this workshop.

Creative Expression of Emotions

This is a virtual workshop to learn about different ways of processing and expressing your emotions in a safe and healthy way. You do not need to be a professional artist or have prior experience. It is helpful to have some tools/media (e.g., color pencils) and it can be as simple as paper and pen/pencil. This virtual session will be facilitated by a certified counsellor.

Reducing stress and anxiety

This is a virtual workshop to learn more about healthy ways of reducing and managing one’s stress and or symptoms of anxiety. The workshop will be facilitated by a certified counsellor. It consists of informational presentation and time for participation and discussion. It is optional to participate.

Sleep Hygiene (睡眠衛生) in Cantonese

Good night sleep is important for your physical and mental health as healthy eating and exercising. However, many people will suffer from sleep disturbances at some time in their life. We will take a close look at your own sleeping habits as well as develop practical techniques for good sleep hygiene. This workshop is for anyone who wants to improve their overall sleeping habits and hopefully catch some Zs! Our mental health counsellor from Skills for Change will facilitate this workshop.

Self-confidence

This is a virtual workshop to learn more about self-confidence, what it means and how to improve it. This workshop will be facilitated by a certified counsellor. It consists of information presentation and time for group discussion and participation. It is optional to participate.
