The Serving Youth in Newcomer Communities (SYNC) course will engage participants from across Ontario who are working with newcomer youth through a series of interactive modules. The course will build on essential foundational concepts and take an anti-oppressive, youth-centred, trauma-informed approach to better equip service providers working with newcomer youth populations.

OCASI is pleased to open registration for the upcoming self-directed online course on Addressing Anti-Indigenous Racism in the Immigrant and Refuge-Serving Sector.
The course is intended for settlement workers to more effectively serve LGBTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual) immigrants, refugees, and newcomers. This four-module training incorporates updated legislative and legal information, as well as emerging issues and trends in LGBTQIA+ communities.
This FREE course is designed to provide settlement service providers with the knowledge, skills, and tools to understand and address the needs, challenges and opportunities for clients seeking employment. Ultimately, the goal of this course is to prepare learners to provide excellent employment-related services, support, referrals and advocacy to immigrants, refugees and all/any migrants, by understanding the big issues that impact migrant communities in the areas of employment, developing a critical analysis, and learning about promising innovative practices.

Under the PET project, assistance is available to frontline staff working in organizations funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), to enhance their skills and gain knowledge through individual courses.
This course is intended to help front-line practitioners working with immigrants and refugees better understand the immigrant and refugee-serving sector, values, principles, and standards for settlement work, and ways to support newcomers who encounter common barriers and challenges to a successful settlement.
