Malton Neighbourhood Services is a non-profit charitable organization that provides a variety of programs and community support services since 1975. Eligible candidates are invited to apply for the Punjabi Youth Settlement Worker position.

Job Summary:

To offer settlement orientation/integration services to Punjabi youth in the community. The work will focus on youth who are facing multiple settlements and integration barriers and challenges experienced in balancing traditional family values and culture with their lives in the mainstream community.


  • Provide compassionate, timely orientation/integration settlement services
  • Promote cross-cultural awareness in the community, addressing the cultural challenges that newcomer Punjabi youth experience
  • Plan/conduct conversation circles on inter-generational and cultural barriers
  • Organize life skills, gender-based, employment/ career related, other workshops as needed
  • Work closely with the local schools and with MNS settlement workers at the schools
  • Offer information/referrals regarding other support programs/services
  • Conduct client needs assessments and compile profile data on clients
  • Compile and submit accurate monthly reports on client services
  • Liaise with other settlement workers, agencies, cultural groups in support of clients
  • Attend program, department and agency meetings as needed


  • University Degree, Community College Diploma in social services or equivalent experience
  • Sensitivity to the personal experiences, challenges of Punjabi youth and awareness of the local community and Punjabi culture, traditions
  • Experience in providing settlement/community support services with at least two years serving youth
  • Current knowledge of government and other local support services, programs
  • Well-developed inter-personal, communication and organizational skills
  • Team player with strong problem solving skills and ability to work flexible hours
  • Can work well in a multicultural and anti-oppressive environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, working online and with database systems
  • Fluency in English and Punjabi
