Overview

Newcomer Settlement Program Settlement Worker
(Full-time / Permanent)
CCS is a settlement agency providing a wide range of services to immigrants and refugees regardless of race, religion or status. CCS is seeking a full-time (35 hours/week) contract NSP Settlement Worker to provide services in
Scarborough. The position requires travel to multiple locations in Scarborough Region.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide settlement services at CCS Scarborough offices and itinerantly, at other host locations
  • Provide client-centered settlement services, including assessment, referral, information and orientation
  • Assist newcomers in the development of a personalized settlement action plan
  • Plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate group sessions on topics relevant to client settlement needs
  • Facilitate successful internal and external referrals to appropriate services
  • Provide case management and follow-up services to support the achievement of positive client outcomes
  • Responsible for maintaining and developing hosting relationships with host community organizations
  • Plan service delivery with CCS program teams and in consideration of host organizations
  • Work closely with host agency staff to provide joint and/or complementary services as warranted
  • Develop, document, and report on client outcomes
  • Tracking of case management activities and data with required formats and management systems
  • Contribute to the development of program related promotional materials
  • Participate in team meetings, as well as other internal and external committees as required
  • Prepare and submit statistical and progress reports on a regular and ad hoc basis as required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Settlement Counselling diploma or equivalent training in the human services field
  • Minimum of 2 years’ work experience in the settlement and/or community work sectors
  • Proven work experience in client-centred service delivery and case management in-person and online
  • Knowledge of community resources and services
  • Interview, assessment, group facilitation, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively with other service providers
  • Knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to issues affecting immigrant and refugee communities
  • Demonstrated cross-cultural communication skills with participants, other agencies and the public
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively in a team setting, and independently
  • Previous experience using MS Office, databases and internet search engines
  • Experience in data entry and the use of case management software
  • Excellent oral and written English skills
  • Fluency in a second language is considered an asset (Amharic, Romanian, Spanish, Tigre, Tigrinya)
  • Good organizational skills, ability to multi-task while maintaining a high level of accuracy in data collection
    and reporting
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Driver’s licence and access to a vehicle is an asset

Additional information

Duration of Contract: Permanent
Location: Scarborough
Salary: $52,000 - $55,000 annual salary plus benefits (after completion of the required
probationary period)
Hours of Work: 35 per week, including evening and weekend hours as required
