As part of the Youth Summer Job Challenge team with funding support from the Region of Peel, the Job Coach in conjunction with other team members will assist 200 youth take part in summer employment opportunities in Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon.

Working with the Coordinator and Summer Job Challenge team, the Job Coach will focus on marketing and outreach efforts to promote the program and provide job matching services to clients and employers and follow up support i for successful summer job experiences.

Reporting to: Coordinator, Youth Summer Job Challenge

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct intake with each participant to determine eligibility/suitability for the program and assess client needs in office and in the community
  • Work with team to deliver orientation event which will include pre-employment workshops; career exploration/identification, employment preparation, life skills, employment related skills and job retention
  • Provide one-to-one coaching for participants on employment and job search skills based on individual client needs, career and educational goals through action planning and appropriate community referrals
  • Provide support to client in assessing their qualifications against job requirements
  • Monitor the mentor/coach relationship and its impact on workplace success, facilitating adjustments as required providing additional job coaching support as needed
  • Create opportunities for post program networking and learning events/activities to re-affirm and build on program lessons, mentoring opportunities or further training
  • Conduct outreach to employers to identify opportunities and promote job matching and placement support, ensuring they meet eligibility criteria and suitable safe work environments for youth
  • Facilitate negotiation of employment relationships on behalf of clients including the completion of placement agreements and detailed training plans
  • Work with participants to determine needs and assist with the administration Support Payments to remove barriers in participation, and successful program completion
  • Provide employers with sensitivity/diversity training, workplace safety training and information on accommodation needs
  • Conduct placement monitors and provide coaching and support during the placement
  • Ensure regular receipt of placement time sheets and timely processing of financial records for payment of financial supports
  • All aspects of the position will utilize TCET’s internal data management system for tracking clients, conducting follow up, record all client activities and case notes
  • Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Post Secondary Education and or related work experience
  • 1-2 years’ experience working in employment programs or services working with clients and employers preferred
  • 1 year experience conducting outreach activities
  • Understanding and comfortable applying basic marketing and sales principles including call calling experience to produce job leads, develop professional relationships and acquiring opportunities
  • 1-2 years’ experience working with youth and or other unemployed job seekers
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office) and precise data entry skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups – especially youth, unemployed, newcomers to Canada-businesses or other groups with specialized needs
  • Experience organizing and promoting events would be an asset
  • Previous facilitation experience
  • Demonstrated high level of communication skills (speaking, listening and writing)
  • Goal oriented, highly organized, flexible and adaptable with superior time management skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage a high volume workload with accuracy
  • Reliable, dedicated team player who is self-motivated
  • Access to reliable transportation (mileage is reimbursed at a competitive rate) for travel within Peel and TCET locations
  • Must obtain valid vulnerable sector check prior to employment
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends or split shifts as necessary

Terms of employment: Full Time Temporary contract position 4 Months)
Start date: May 1, 2019
End date: August 31, 2019
Hours: Mondays - Fridays; 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.(some evenings and weekends may be required)
Annual salary: 48,029.80 pro-rated ($26.39/hour)
