Society of Sharing: Inner-City Volunteers is a non-profit agency supported by volunteers to reduce social isolation and improve the quality of life among seniors and adults with disabilities in downtown Toronto.

Society of Sharing: Inner-City Volunteers is seeking a reliable, highly efficient as well as motivated Fundraising and Development Specialist who will be responsible to grow the revenue of the organization and associated programs by expanding the funder composition, broadening the funder base, designing, and implementing formal fundraising plans, and other fund development projects to help SOS recover from the impact of the pandemic, and to build sustainability for the future.

Scope of Practice:

  • Develop and implement a long-term fund development plan that will identify new sources of revenue, broaden the funder base, develop, and implement digital fundraising campaigns, and develop resources, fundraising tools (e.g., Case for Support). The plan must include defined action steps, a realistic timeline, and clear goals.
  • Craft grant proposals, research and identify funding opportunities through foundations, corporate and government grants and implement corporate fundraising campaigns.
  • Prepare budgets and metrics related to the fund development plan.
  • Plan and execute fundraising events and campaigns, with specific actions, metrics and timelines.
  • Implement fund development client relations management systems to support all fund development projects and operations.
  • Develop a portfolio of major gift prospects/donors to ensure appropriate acquisition, cultivation, and stewardship of all prospects,
  • Establish, maintain, and foster relationships with donors and the community; and implement best practices in gift processing, data management, and donor communications.
  • Monitor and report on fundraising progress and results to the Executive Director and Board of Directors
  • Maintain a solid knowledge of current best practices, rules, policies, guidelines, and procedures related to fund development activities, and ensure that all activities, systems, and procedures strictly adhere to the highest ethical, accounting, reporting and any other applicable standards.
  • Abide by the Code of Ethics and Professional Standards of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Canada.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field, preferably a Bachelor of Business Administration.
  • CFRE accreditation is preferred.
  • 3+ years of professional experience including business management, corporate sponsorships, fundraising, and proven experience in managing all aspects of fund development.
  • Proven and consistent track record of meeting revenue development goals.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining professional, productive working relationships with Board members, donors, volunteers, and community stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of communications/marketing, social media, public relations, and advertising as it relates to fund development.
  • Strong experience with information systems (donor databases, CRM systems).
  • Excellent organizational skills, and ability to prioritize duties and multi-task.

Location: Toronto Region
Hours: 35 hours per week
