Summary

Peel Multicultural Council (PMC) is a non-profit and charitable organization that promotes a harmonious multicultural society and its key service pillars consist of Settlement and Integration of newcomers to Canada, Neighborhood Development, Health and Wellness, Education and Training, and Employment Support.

PMC provides a variety of settlement programs and community support services. The PMC is seeking a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) who will support the LINC program by providing quality childcare for children from diverse backgrounds (CNC). The candidate should be available during programs hours (Monday to Friday from 9am - 3pm) and to work occasional evenings. This is a supply position with potential of transitioning to a permanent position.

Responsibilities

The CNC Worker performs a wide range of duties including some or all of the following:
 Ensure the safety and wellbeing of children in the care of CNC
 Plan and implement a program for children from 2 to 6 years of age to guide their social, emotional physical and cognitive development
 Develop activities geared to the needs of individual children with respect for their interests, special talents, individual style and pace of learning
 Plan and lead engaging group activities utilizing arts and crafts
 Assist children with routine activities
 Maintain information and attendance records and prepare weekly reports
 Document accidents/injuries/incidents
 Maintain Health and Safety requirements and good sanitary practices in accordance with CMAS requirements
 Attend staff meetings/workshops/educational sessions
 Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

 Early Childhood Education Diploma
 RECE (Registered Early Childhood Educator)
 Minimum 2 years of experience working with preschool children and toddlers
 Experience planning and implementing age appropriate programs and activities
 Sensitivity and understanding of issues faced by newcomers to Canada
 Solid interpersonal skills and commitment to teamwork
 Working knowledge utilizing CMAS guidelines to support to parents
 Valid First Aid and CPR certificates
 Effective communication skills in English
 TB test and up to date immunization records
 Police check mandatory

Assets

 Language other than English
 Own transportation; valid driver’s license and insurance
 Knowledge of the social services/immigrant-serving sector of Peel Region/GTA.
