Responsibilities:

The LINC Child Care/CNC Worker performs a wide range of duties pertaining to Early Childhood Education, in accordance with the CMAS Canada CNC Guidelines, including some or all of the following:

Functions:

  • The LINC Child Care Workers will be responsible for Child Care duties for the children of the LINC students
  • Maintain good communication with parents, and communicate their concerns to the Language Programs Manager/Coordinator
  • Any other function deemed necessary by the 2013 CMAS guidelines
  • Any Program related duties assigned by the Language Programs Manager/Coordinator

Organization Activities:

  • Organize activities along with themes pre-approved by Language Programs

Program Development:

  • Participate in “on the job” training
  • Actively participate in regular staff meetings
  • Participate on committees, attend workshops, conferences and seminars as approved by PMC

Administration:

  • Maintain record of the supplies used for the Child Care program
  • Submit requisitions in advance for the supplies needed
  • Maintain and submit statistical information and reports as required
  • Maintain attendance of children in the program
  • Ensure appropriate and confidential handling of client information and files

Qualifications:

  • Early Childhood Educator Certificate (ECE)/RECE certificate
  • Police Record Check, First AID//CPR and TB Testing
  • Experience in day care service delivery programme

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of legislation, policies and issues regarding Child care in Ontario
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; understanding of cultures and sensitivity to immigrant and refugee issues
  • Cross cultural communication skills and ability to work with students, school staff and team members
  • Knowledge and commitment to anti-racism and ethno-cultural equity principles
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, diplomacy and tact

Assets:

  • Language other than English
  • Own transportation; valid driver’s license and insurance
  • Knowledge of the social services/immigrant-serving sector of Peel Region/GTA
  • Work hours: 27.5 hours/week
